Handpicked Hall offers start-up and small businesses the chance to trade in city centre locations (Ripon, Skipton and Leeds) and get their products onto the high street. A few months ago I visited Handpicked Hall in Leeds for the first time, it was only a quick visit, so last week I got the chance to really explore Handpicked Hall and all the exciting businesses in there. These are just a selection of my favourite shops that really stood out to me. But don’t just take my word for it, make sure you visit and explore Handpicked Hall for yourself.

My first stop was The Olive Tree Soap Company, who make lovely soap out of olive oil. Each bar is unique and has it’s own beautiful scent, including my favourite, Victorian Rose – I had to smell them all – I couldn’t resist!

I also found these beautiful coasters with delicate illustrations printed onto ceramic. Unfortunately I couldn’t see who had made them, so if anyone knows, please let me know so I can credit them.

My next stop was Our Handmade Collective, a great business who sell a wide range of products designed by wonderful British artists, designers and crafters. There were many beautiful products on display, and one of my favourites were a stationery range from McDonough & Davies, who’s designs were simple but effective and immediately caught my eye. I love the budgies in pink party hats!

Across from Our Handmade Collective is a wonderful business called Eek Print who offer prints, illustrations and designs from some of Yorkshire’s top artists and designers.

A designer who immediately caught my eye was Jil Made This, an illustrator who brings her designs to life in various forms, from cards to prints and textiles to quirky gifts. These are just some of her wonderful creations.

Head further into Eek and you will discover more unique products, including work by Deco Press, Hayley Louise Crann and Life’s Big Canvas. These designs are all beautifully hand crafted, and are perfect for the home. With many designs to choose from there is sure to be something for everyone.

Folksy Finds: Prints

Posted On: Tuesday, February 4, 2014

We are well into the new year, and it’s always a time when I start to think about decorating my home, to give it a fresh new look. You don’t have to start painting walls or putting up wallpaper, sometimes all it can take is a great print to brighten up your room or space. These prints are some of my favourites from British designers over on Folksy.

1. 1950s Potplant from Marmalademudpie & Me.  2. Hand-drawn Whitstable Icons from Have a Gander.  3. Red Typewriter Robot Print from Ruka-Ruka Print Studio.  4. Swallow & Anchor Illustration from MicaPeet.  5. Blue Heart Linocut from Inky-Prints Originals.  6. Unicorn Parade from Violet May.  7. A Photograph Print from Anais Woolf Art.  8. Wire Birds Rows Art Print from  IngridPetrie Design.
