This pretty illustrated animation by Chinese artist Oamul makes me wish everyday could be filled with flowers. It’s delicately illustrated and makes me feel happy. I hope it makes you feel the same too. I urge you to check out more of Oamul’s work, it’s too lovely to miss!

Happy weekend x

Flower Photography Trend

Posted On: Monday, July 27, 2015

For a while now there has been a new trend emerging in photography, particularly flower photography. The trend I’m talking about is the flat image, where there’s little tone and shadow within the photo and it appears to have a subtle white film over it, creating a delicate vintage feel to the overall image.

I guess you could say this trend has been prominent in photography for quite a while now and this is down to the rise in photography apps. Some say this is a cheats way to create this effect, and I tend to agree, but it lets the novice photographer create an image they might not necessarily be able to do otherwise. Controversial I know! When I take my photos, as long as the image is right in my camera first, then the app just enhances the overall look instantly. Here’s a few photos I’ve been experimenting with, I’m getting there!

It’s not just photography that features this flat photo trend, more and more products on the high street and online are applying this design and the results are wonderful and elegant…

1. Wondland Floral Face Watch from Olivia Burton  2. Peonies Hand Stitched Journal from Paperchase  3. Like Yesterday Pillow from Sylvia Cook Photography  4. Technicolour Xhatch iPhone Case from Ted Baker

So next time you photograph your favourite flower, food or building why not apply this flat style, it will enhance your photos more than you think.

There were pretty cherry blossom trees, which snowed delicate pink petals at the slightest of breezes and fields full of dazzling rape seed blooms contrasting against bright blue skies. Oh I did manage to capture some great signs and architecture in between…

Without realising I have had a theme running through my photo’s; rustic nature. I first noticed it when I began putting this post together, the colours are quite rustic and I feel like I’ve been away at a countryside retreat somewhere in the Provence regions of France, sadly I haven’t, everything you see here was shot in good old Yorkshire. It’s pleasantly surprising what this lovely country has to offer…
