Looking Up

Posted On: Monday, April 28, 2014

Have you ever visited your town or city and looked above the shops? You should, it’s amazing what you’ll see…

Leeds Buildings Header

If you look closely you will find beautiful, detailed architecture everywhere, that has stood the test of time. Leeds is a great example of this as there are many different styles and period features to see.

This project has always been on my ‘things to do’ list, and a couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to cross this one off. I have always visited Leeds and admired the buildings above the shops and always wanted to capture them. So this is just what I did. I headed out one cloudy (not exactly the best photography conditions) Sunday morning, iPhone in hand, ready to photograph the buildings I found along the way. I had no plan of where I was going, I just went for a wander to see where my journey would take me.

I found lots of great buildings to capture; from the Corn Exchange to the Victoria Quarter, each unique building, period feature and quirky facade all had their own story to tell..

Leeds Buildings Montage

On this particular visit I only photographed a quarter of the buildings found in Leeds, but I’m on a mission to capture and share more of these magnificent buildings.

NYC Series Logo          Portrait

Whilst researching for my New York series I came across a wonderful photographer on Behance, Navid Baraty. His work instantly caught my eye and I couldn’t wait to share his work with you.

Navid is a Brooklyn based photographer who gave up a job in engineering to pursue a career in a passion of his, photography. He is drawn to photography by its ability to stop time and reveal unexpected details that the eye may miss.

Whilst photographing for various publications and clients, Navid also likes to shoot what’s around him in his hometown of Brooklyn and Manhattan. The collection of photo’s that first drew me to Navid’s photography were his Intersection photos, they are truly stunning, and give you the best perspective and understanding of the height of New York’s famous skyscrapers. Here are some of his intersection photo’s and to view more visit www.navidbaraty.com

A special Easter treat for you all whilst you’re in your chocolate comas, lazing on the sofa watching TV (I don’t blame you!), here is my next collection of exclusively designed iPhone wallpapers. It was purely a coincidence that I designed them all pink, black and white, I hadn’t realised until I put my montage together. I quite like it, maybe this is a new way to go….

Enjoy x

Long Weekend

easter dinosaur2

Firstly, I have to apologise for being absent this week, this was mainly due having to do to boring housework, an exciting new venture on the horizon and WordPress crashing. But enough of the excuses, I’m back to blogging and today is Friday! But not just any Friday, it’s Easter weekend which means many of us get to enjoy a 4 day weekend either eating chocolate, enjoying lazy days, or even celebrating the true meaning of Easter.

Whatever your plans are, I wish all my lovely followers a very Happy Easter x

Work Hard, Play Hard

pirate2

Happy Friday everyone! I found this little saying whilst on my Pinterest travels, it’s a great way of saying work hard, play hard. I think I might start using it, it is much more fun. Let’s hope you’ve all worked like a Captain this week, so you can play like a Pirate this weekend – don’t forget the rum!

Happy weekend x
