It’s been a great month for photographing due to the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had this autumn, it’s been lovely. The flowers were blooming for longer, leaves stayed on the trees a few extra days, and the bright blue sky provided some brilliant backdrops for my photos.

I’m always on the look out for illustrators to follow, because even though I’m a graphic designer, their work inspires me just as much as a graphic artist’s does. I like the fluidity within their work and just like graphic design, there are so many styles to admire. You can see this in my Enjoying Illustration post.
Jessica Durrant is one of those illustrators. Using primarily watercolours, her illustrations are beautiful and inky, giving them wonderful tones and shades to the subjects she’s painting, whether it’s fashion or travel and lifestyle. These are just a few of my favourites.

After years of promising myself this, I now have a shop on Folksy, a wonderful site dedicated to British designers and crafters, selling my ‘I Saw This and Thought…’ photos.
I haven’t been on the site for long and I’m in the process of adding new prints to my shop each week, but I’m very excited about this new venture. I really hope you like the prints I’m offering and if there’s a specific photo you think I should be selling from my Instagram page then let me know!
I’m selling my prints as both single and as a collection of four prints (images of your choice) and keeping them quite small, as I think they’re just a little bit quirkier that way!
How about an architecture print?

Halloween is on it’s way so it’s time to start decorating! Instead of pumpkins, witches and gouls, how about decorating with skulls? I’ve always liked skulls and the inspiration behind this post came from a photo I saw of a DIY Floral Skull centrepiece designed by Honestly Yum blog. I thought it was a wonderful and original idea, and I thought would be great to see what other skull products were available for Halloween, and it appears that skull products are not just for Halloween, they’re available all year round making for great, quirky home decor. Now, what would look good in my home…

Nearly two weeks ago I took a trip across the Atlantic to New York, a place I fell in love with 10 years ago. I don’t know why I love it, I just do. There’s so much to see and do in New York, that a week just isn’t long enough, so we made a plan for each day of what we wanted to do/see and made sure we stuck to it. The only stipulation I had was that I could take as many photos as I wanted, with no subject/theme in mind – just what the city could throw at me. And take photos I did! Unfortunately I can’t show you them all on here, there’s too many, but I’ve posted lots over on Instagram. Here’s just a sample of some of my favourites.
Partway through the week I realised I’d been experimenting with the panorama setting on my phone, and had built up a collection of panoramic views of my favourite places…
We visited lots of the touristy spots as my boyfriend has never been before, but that didn’t matter to me, I wanted to take advantage of this and capturing lot’s of photos.
One of my favourite places, or should I say buildings, not just in New York, but the world (that sounds a bit dramatic doesn’t it!) is the Empire State building. I have a love affair with it and needless to say I took few, ok a lot, of photos of this wonderful, art deco styled building.
During our trip we walked a lot, making sure we took in the eclectic sights and sounds of this incredible city, we even saw a few movie stars along the way!
We’re both now planning (hoping) when we can go back and explore this vibrant city some more!
